Country/folk

by Well Worn Soles

about

Singing together, their voices weave and twine with depth and humor. The chemistry between them is audible on first listen, the spark of their live performance obvious at first glance, their connection palpable.
The story of this Americana duo began in Johnson City, Tennessee, where the two were Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country Music Studies majors at ETSU. Country/Folk is their debut album, and it’s a shining example of modern perspectives presented with a reverence for the musical traditions that influenced them. The music is held firmly with ties to vintage roots, while sprouting new and unique language that speaks to age-old themes.
From the immediate smile-inducing lilt of lead-off track “We Fell Apart” to the soul-baring ache of “Whiskey Filled Holes,” the authentic emotions and expansive range of this collection are undeniable. Working with veteran artist/producer Patterson Barrett, Well Worn Soles resolved to keep the production understated and the songs front and center.

Emerson sang and played the acoustic guitars and mandolin; drums on tracks 7 & 9; electric guitar on track 2; and piano on track 7. Chelsea played all of the fiddle and sang beautifully.
Mike Rieman played drums on tracks 1, 2 & 5.
Patterson played the rest of the instruments.
Well Worn Soles would like to thank:Mike Rieman for his professional drumming; Emerson’s mother Kathy “the MA” Wells and sister Dana (Dane Dane the Cuddle Train) for their support and staying locked quietly in their rooms during recording sessions; Dana drawing our logo (with lots of artistic guidance from her older brother); Chelsea’s mother Debbie, who co-wrote track 2; Chelsea’s father Pat and her siblings for all their support; Sir William Parsnips (Will Parsons) and all of his minions (family) for providing us with somewhere to live and for providing us with food and wine and providing us with continued unwanted advice and generally bad mentoring; Jeff Ingersoll for musical ideas of tracks 7 and 9 and for teaching us anything we didn’t know how to do. We would especially like to thank the one and only Dr. Patterson “P-Bear” Barrett for most of the instrumentation and production.
